Chat is Squirt’s built-in instant messaging feature that lets you chat privately and in real time with other members. It’s designed for quick connections, easy flirting, and seamless conversations while you browse Squirt.
Where do I find Chats?
You can jump into Chats a few different ways:
- Tap the chat bubble icon in the main navigation (bottom right corner on app)
- Select the chat bubble icon from your main menu (top left on squirt.org)
- Click on the chat bubble icon directly from another member’s profile.
How to use Chats / Send a message
To start chatting with someone new:
- Tap their profile in the grid.
- Tap the chat bubble icon at the bottom of their profile screen to begin chatting.
To resume an active chat:
- Tap the chat bubble icon in the bottom-right corner to access your chat history.
- Tap a conversation to open it.
Adding Media
You can spice things up by sharing media directly in chats.
- Tap the media attachment / paper clip icon in the message bar
- Choose an existing photo or take a new one
You can switch between the front and back camera on a mobile device.
Read Receipts
Chats include read receipts so you know when your message has been seen.
- Read receipts appear directly beneath your sent message
- When a message is delivered but not yet read, the receipt appears in its grey default state
- Once the other member has read your message, the receipt turns green, letting you know it’s been opened
Read receipts are automatic and cannot be turned on or off. Their appearance may vary slightly depending on device and connection.
Deleting Chats
- Tap on the Chats icon (the chat bubble icon) and you will be redirected to the the chats page where you can view your chat list and organize to see recent messages, unread messages, and messages with your Fave Buddies (on Squirt.org, select the chat bubble icon from the main menu).
- On the Chats list screen, swipe left on any conversation (on squirt.org click and drag on any conversation).
- Tap Delete to remove chat from the chat list (chat history will be cleared).
Report a user in Chats
- Go to the member's Chats conversation.
- Tap the line with three dots icon (in top right corner).
- Select “Report”.
- Fill in the offense type and note – both are required to activate the “Send Now” button.
- Submit the report by clicking “Send Now”. You’ll see a confirmation once it’s submitted.
Block a user in Chats
- Visit the member’s Chats conversation.
- Tap the line with three dots icon (in top right corner).
- Choose “Block”.
- Confirm your action in the prompt that appears.
- You’ll see a confirmation that the user has been blocked.
1:1 Video Chat is Currently Unavailable
The updated IM Chat does not currently support 1:1 video calls between members. The team is focused on delivering the best Chats experience and exploring new features based on member feedback. Our goal is to bring back video chat in a future update. Keep an eye on your inbox for announcements about the latest updates.
